Heal sometimes, to treat often, comfort always.
These are the words of the father of medicine Hippocrates.
How we understand healing and cure has changed over the years, and is deeply connected to our perspective on reality.

Today more and more people are influenced by scientism, making them believe that any emotional, mental activity or soul like expression are all dependent of the biochemistry of your brain. They believe that you fall in love because of the oxytocin levels is rising, not that it is rising because you are falling in love.
Understanding part of a mechanism reduces the understanding of causation, intention, meaning, will, liking etc. into a biochemical machinery.
Even if this is an extrem reduction of the perception of reality, the people with this belief system think they are part of great discoveries into the secret of man and nature.
Healing of mental emotional problems becomes a question of the missing chemical in your brain!
This view on health and healing is based on certain axioms or fundamental beliefs.
Scientism believes in matter as the basic unit – materialism
Scientism believes that component compose the whole – reductionism
Scientism believes that the external world can be examined objectively – positivism
Scientism believes that with this knowledge the can understand causality – determinism
But there are other people with a more subtle approach to healing and cure.
They believe that the basic unit is not matter but a universal unity that interconnects all that exists; that there is a mutual influence an almost magical connection that can even transcend time and space. –Unity
(Read more about unity here)
They believe that parts can never explain the wholeness, because a bigger wholeness, a bigger holon brings something new, a higher, more advanced coherence. They believe this is a higher principle involving into the lower realms so the lower realms can evolve. – Wholeness
(Read more about wholeness here)
This is in strong contrast with evolution as a survival of the fittest. It is a belief that life on other planets would follow very similar steps if the conditions are similar.
They believe that the external world is an illusion. Reality is not matter, not only energy but all that exists are levels of awareness. The slowest most dormant we call matter. –Personal realization, mastery in life
They believe not in causality as a mechanistic perspective, but in creation manifesting in a lawful way. Where things have a wise purpose and are driven with care and love. -Spirituality
The main difference between these two extreme approaches to health is fear and trust.
The emerging view on life and healt is based on a different set of axioms you can read more about them here
