Garnet – 1 First holonistic gemstone exploration

Skjermbilde 2015-02-04 kl. 08.55.54

Garnet was the most commonly used gemstone in the Late Antique Roman world. Its name comes from the middel english word “gernet” meaning dark red. Which comes from the Latin word granatus (Seed, grain) most likely referring to pomegranate (Punica granatum) with its shiny red seeds.

Even if it is mainly associated with red as seen above, today we know the chemical compositions has variations with a few different colors.

Gemstones are rare, precious, beautiful, valuable flowers from the deep dark earth. People believed them to have healing abilities, to be able to confer spiritual powers and connect us to a more subtle reality.

Thursday 15-01-15 the holonity group met to open our selves to Garnet. Based on a holonistic approach to knowledge we decided to explore the realm of gemstones.

This was a weeks after the terror attacks on the satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. There was a lot of focus in the media on freedom of speech. Any person trying to voice concern for offending or hurting others, raising a voice for respect or the least empathy on fellow men, was quickly questioned or attacked. The mantra was “Freedom of speech, regardless!”

We live in a time where words, and exchange of fragmented information through media and mobile devices takes a big part of our day. It is an activity of communication, information and restless back and forth, repeating and changing with little higher perspective.

The www has opened up a possibility were all can be expressed and all can be accessed. But we humans are still using this tool in an immature way, we easily get lost in fragments and details. Some people even take the misuse to an extreme where any disagreement is ridiculed or harassed. But both these aspects, the one of being lost in the woods and the one of using words indiscreetly are just steps on the way. What is the next step in the evolution of human society and culture?

According to the Kabbalah the first step is dominated by the third sephira Hod or the qualities of the planet Mercury or the archetype Young boy, the next step will then be Netzach, Venus or young girl. We will come back to this.

This is interesting in the perspective of gemstones. Garnets as many other gems contain Silica. What is common to the different variations of Garnet is a orthosilicate ion. A small triangle faced pyramide (tetrahedron), with Silica in the centre and Oxygen at the angles. As seen here:

Skjermbilde 2015-02-04 kl. 11.46.02

A pyramid with Silica as the core, centre or heart.

Diamonds have the same triangularpyramid (tetrahedron), but it only consist of carbons. Place carbon where you have silica and oxygen above and you have the structure of diamonds.

Skjermbilde 2015-02-05 kl. 12.26.17

This common factor in the most common Garnet variations can be seen in the last part of the formula, where we see that they all have 3 such pyramids.

Skjermbilde 2015-02-04 kl. 11.32.37

From this we see that silica takes a central place in Garnet, as it does in many other gemstones.

So what can we say about silica?
From homeopathy we have some interesting knowledge of silica. It is an element in period 3 and group 14. Silica is connected to other elements in period 3 with a common quality of exchange and communication a youthful quality.

Elements in group 14 have a quality that can be symbolized with a door. They are standing at the threshold, should I stay or should I go? Do I have the guts, the energy, the confidence to step out of the door and meet the next level in life? From a kabbalistic perspective group 14 corresponds to Daleth, the door. The door between life and death (carbon and silica), between light and darkness or white and black. As we will explore the gems we will see how this manifest in different ways.

From Garnet we learned that communication was a central point, it was a question of feeling connected or not. There was a focus around the throat chakra with symptoms from neck and throat. The connection issues also came forth in symptoms from the joints – joining or connecting body parts.

A clear polarity with strong separation issues between to opposed part came forward in the experiment. Disagreements with deep conflicts, separation from death, both solved by reaching a level of deep eternal connection with realization that any separation is delusional.

A deep state of peace and confidence where any challenge are already solved. Garnet solves this polarity of dispute, separation, unclear statements, misunderstandings and disagreement with dissolving the veil of illusions and making us realize that at a deeper level we are, were and will always be one. A unity in a profound peaceful way, where there is a deep silence and quietness, almost like being in a crystal.
Garnet opens the heart to a state of deeper connections, the unity that is the truth, with a purity and clarity that only truth is capable of.

In Kabbalah Adam Kadmon is the great man, the archetype of man, the picture we were created after. Higher than Kether, the Crown or top of the Tree of Life we have the Lamb of God, ruled by the sign of Aries, the first sign in the zodiac and also said to be red. Garnet is red and it gives you a sense of coherence with Adam Kadmon. Adam is A-dam or Aleph in the blood (dam). The Aleph in the red blood.
Adamah is the earth or ground, or red clay. There is an etymological connection between adam and adamah and the words: Earth, man and red.

We can conclude that where humankind feels strong dispute, conflict or separation, based on the illusion of being in two different places, Garnet reconnects us in Adam Kadmon where we always have been connected in deep unity.

Which world are you living in?

We have three worlds we relate to!

The obvious is the external natural world, were we have all physical things. This is the world we all relate to. Then we have the inner nature we meet when we close our senses, when we dream, when we reflect and have memories, in meditation and spiritual practice. Finally we have the world you are in when you read this, the virtual world of the Internet or World Wide Web, www.

We are drawn between these worlds everyday. Today people spend more and more time in the third www-world. Like a time eating animal it eats up the precious time we have. It has taken a big part in many peoples daily affairs. It even eats up the second world when we are online late nights, surfing on the net rather than spending time with ourselves in reflection, contemplation, relaxation, sleep or meditation. Everything has its pro and cons, it is just to be aware of them.

Is it a coincidence that in the kabbalah the www is the same as 666? The W is V and V is number 6. The number 666 is the number of the beast in the apocalypse. Is the Internet a time eating beast? And what is time? Time is the only dimension for us that runs through all these three worlds.

Space, time and matter are fundamental. We cannot imagine anything in the natural world without these: space, time and matter. In the two other worlds matter is not so important, even if the www is as yet dependent on hardware. Some people would say dreams depend on a brain, but matter is not what we primarily associate with dreams or web surfing.

Matter is primarily the realm of our bodies and physical things. Space is the realm of the soul, its highest ideal is the vastness of endlessness, while the spirit is in the realm of time, and aspires to eternity. With soul we here think of all that goes on in our awareness: thinking and feeling, memories and dreams. As soon as we talk about sensation we enter an overlap of body and soul. When we talk about intuition and inspiration soul and spirits meets.
The soul is the realm of thinking and feeling and dreaming, it is were we as subjects perceive, meet and process what we experience. The soul is the whole extent of our inner world as we are aware of it. It is what collects all we have done and seen and felt in the vastness of our experience. The soul is the traveller in all these worlds. But as the body is the master of the physical world, the soul is the queen of the dream-world.

The spirit transcends all this. It is connected to something higher than us, something that is there independent of us. It is an eternal centre, the driving force behind all, behind creation and time. You could say spirit is the fire, the initiating force, a radiating sun behind all suns, all galaxies and universes.

From the smallest particles to the biggest galaxies we see how things turn around themselves, electrons spin, the earth creates days and nights by rotation and the galaxy creates galactic years as it is revolving around its centre. This is the realm of the soul traveling through space in cycles of different spans, around and around again and again.

Imagine the toys small children have, the spinning top, where they push down a few times and the spinning top rotates and rotates. The soul is the space, with volume as it makes the circle. Spirit is the pusher, the axis, the driving force, that last for the time it takes or makes.

The virtual world is the like an animal, eating our time, our challenge that we have to take by the horns. Like the knight of the middle ages, we have to surf the net with vigilance and virtue. It can be used for good, but it can also eat the energy, the time the driving force that is pulling us home to the source, and then the internet will slow us down, give us a detour, or swallow us up.

We have to make sure the www does not make us leave the natural world, so that we can have a full and healthy life.

But the world that suffers most is the inner, spiritual world. This is the most important of them all. It is the only world that is eternal. It is there we will complete our final destiny. It is the source of healing and evolution. It is where we can reload our vital batteries, get inspiration, feel connected and learn to master our lives.

Become a web-knight, use the dragon to fly, do not let yourself get confused of the many heads of the troll remember your mission.

Silence, peace and nothingness

Skjermbilde 2015-01-11 kl. 20.17.52

We live in a culture were we are benchmarking activity, industriousness and financial success more than anything else. We are exploiting nature to the level and with a speed were we start to realize humans might make the end to themselves. Small children are put to school or kindergarden at an early age, to learn as much as possible. Students have to progress within the given time, shops do not want things on their shelves that rest there too long time. Speed, effectivity, productivity, profit, like a machine in full speed, thats the aim in many fields of life in our time.

To be home with children, to have a sabbatical year, to just be in a prolonged state of passivity is regarded as laziness and doing something that is less important. We seem to have forgotten the value of slowness, contemplation, just being or having a rest. The peaceful home a few decades ago, where night time was to sit around the fireplace or exceptionally lit a candle, forced gently peace and quietness on us. In a few decades limited radio hours, and limited TV broadcasting has changed to 24/7 cacophony of stations and we have recently exceeded 1 billion websites. The websites grow more than 10 pr second. We browse the TV or surf on the net and we have light that keeps the artificial day, symbol of activity as long as we want. Activity is eating up the night even. The net is eating up our time and makes us look for something more to keep us awake.

All this impressions, all this activity drives us, exploits us and demand something from our biological system. We use resources in our body and in the external nature. We squeeze and squeeze on all levels, and end up like dry lemons completely squeezed.

The nice feeling of waking up after a deep nights sleep, the good energy after a resting holiday, the fresh start after  the more introvert winter, all shows us the value of sleep, rest and winter time. I think we will learn to understand that research on long living cultures might be more related to building our resources through sleep and rest.

Take extra notice of your need to sleep in winter, make sure you go to bed early enough, release the hold on the lemon, stop squeezing the sponge and let it fill up again with vital zap.
Or put aside time to reflect to contemplate and meditation and feel how you come back as a new person.

The ultimate unity of the All, the Godhead where all is united, is a nothingness. The Buddhist calls it nirvana (nothingness), the Kabbalist calls it AIN (nothing), the Taoist calls it Wu Wei (No action, or doing Nothing) the old Qi Gong masters said: take your Jing and refine it to get Qi, take your Qi and refine it to get Shen, take your Shen and refine it and return to the void (Nothingness). The nothingness, is a state of deep unity, a state of complete peace of mind, a state where there is no tension, split, separation or polarity a deep unity with everything. Just this deep unity where nothing is separate becomes a oneness that is a allness and a nothingness.

If you want to be productive, creative, have energy and vitality, the best way to get it is from nothingness, from silence, from rest, from diving into the deep source of the all, the night, the subconscious the deep winter. Make sure to give yourself extra time in all your activities, give yourself those moments everyday where you can load, rest, dive deep into the inner world through meditation, contemplation, reflection or slow contemplative activities like yoga, tai chi, pilates, qi gong, or just mindfulness in what ever you do.

Letters, pictograms and archetypes

Letters, pictograms and archetypes
Letters started as pictures. Imagine the letter A upside down og you realize how it was picturing the ox. With time the ox head turn 90 degrees a was lying and later turned to become our present A. Each letter started as a picture or a concept.

The structure behind Persian, Arabic, Greek and Hebrew letters show a relation going back to common roots. The structure seems planed and has been found in the old Egyptian culture too. The old Egyptians perceived creation in different myths. One was in a hierarchy of 9 creative Gods, the Paut-Neteru (Nine-Gods), and in these old alphabets the structure of nine is strong. In Egypt every town or village had their triads of Gods, and trinity is frequent in many theologies and mythologies.

When ever we see 3, representing a unity or wholeness, one will represent stability, action and the last balance. By combining 3 with 3 with 3 you get 3x3x3 or 33, the 27 basic letters. In the hebrew alphabet the first nine letters represent the numbers from 1-9, the next nine letters the numbers from 10-90 and the last nine letters the numbers from 100-900.

So with 3 principles combined one gets 27 basic concepts and they are pictured with simple pictures later to become letter-numbers or symbols. These nine fundamental principals could be described as:

1: Existence, being or singularity
2: Container, background or matrix
3: Exchange, motion, communication
4: Resistance, differentiation or choice
5: Life, manifestation and unfoldment
6: Connecting, fertilize or seal
7: Perfection, wholeness and mastering
8: Elimination, destruction or chaos

9: Seed, hibernation or completion.

These 9 principals are then described in 3 levels; The basic archetypes (1-9), these manifested in life, incarnated (10-90) and then transcended and returned to the source (100-900).

1 Aleph means Ox, energy source, the potential of getting things done, getting more cattle. Equivalent of your interest in the bank, a tractor, power station, or a jeep (4W & winch etc.) This is pure energy, pure power, creative energy, but also unity with the source, the highest of highest. It is the unity where all and nothing becomes one.

2 Beth means House, a container, the space where the creator manifests, and the manifested creation. Keep and contain. Creator and Creation, two-ness. The preposition “in” as “In the beginning”. Which could be read as “the container of beginnings”. Here Aleph can manifest and dwell.

3 Gimmel means Camel, transport, communication. As you can see in exchange of thoughts, persons and goods – trade. Any exchange between two units; energy, thoughts, words, looks, ideas, things etc. Now one Beth can relate to another Beth or commute between Beth´s.

4 Daleth means Door, e.g. inside or outside, left or right, choice, differentiation, friction, regulation. Now gimmel become regulated, slowed down, adjusted and differentiated.

5 He means Window, breathing hole, respiration, pulsating life and autonomous manifestation. Like man as a pentagram, the five senses and unfolding life. Now Aleph has reached the biggest distance to itself on the circle and can perceive him-her-self, as opposed.

6 Vav means Plug, nail, connection. The conjunction “and”, and all that connects, merges, grows into another, combines, joins, fixes and seals. But also penetration and fertilization. Now “He” can join “He” in fertility and company.

7 Zain means Sword, regalia, sovereignty and diplomas. This letter represents all potential possibilities that is mastered. Now the creation is in tune with the creator again.

8 Cheth means Fence, border, exclusion. Dissolution, destruction or chaos. All is broken down to the basic elements and returning to potential use. Again they can be part of a new Beth.

9 Teth is a coiled snake, the circle is completed, the plant turned into seed. Hibernation, rest, coiled potential in a seed to become the big tree. Aleph returns home to itself, enriched with experience.

Holonistic knowledge – what can we gain?

When we in 2008 started our “proving” experiments, with new ways of gaining knowledge we had some assumptions:Skjermbilde 2016-06-30 kl. 12.15.27

• It would stimulate our personal development – that has been confirmed

• It would open up the doors to knowledge lying hidden or dormant or in another realm or dimension – also confirmed

• It would stimulate the intuition, a sixth sense and critical thinking amongst us – also confirmed

• It has also helped us in understanding and improving this new methodology

• It has opened up the understanding of the groups dynamic as a beneficial influence on health, the individual health and the health of the group

• It has revealed that the nature or qualities of all the things and concepts we have explored, can be perceived as a polarity

• It has been a direct experience of a higher holon, as a changed state or presence influencing the group, like the presence of an energy or a being, having both impact, intention and knowledge

• It has stimulated a better balance between the subjective and objective perspectives in us

• It has made us aware of the presence of synchronicity on a national and even global level

• It has given us an increased mastering in our individual lives

• It has given us a deep understanding of the substances or concepts we have explored

• It has taking us from a level of observing or knowing about a substance/concept, to grasping and interacting with it, until it has become an inner awareness an integrated part of ourselves

• It has shown us that the material presence is not necessary to experience the influence, neither is an energetic transmission, the consciousness is all it takes and it transcends both time and space

• The importance, consequences and application of these points are still in the making

Holonistic knowledge

There are many ways of knowing – an introduction to holonistic knowledge

Skjermbilde 2015-01-06 kl. 01.59.19

We can know something from sense perception, like things you know you see or hear or touch etc. (Read more about the different senses here).
One of the most accepted ways is through reason. It could be scientific, statistic or logic.
For you as a person you also know from your emotions; it made me angry or sad etc. I know I like this person, I know we can have a good time together etc.
Another personal and spiritual way of knowledge is faith, the person believing knows there is a God or angels etc.
Reading this you learn to know different ways of knowledge through written language. Sometimes you know things that you remember (memory). It can even be that you suddenly realize, see, understand or get a clarification through what we call intuition Even imagination can be regarded a source. To use the words of Albert Einstein;

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

When we do research we try to find two representative groups of people to compare, each group should be as similar as possible but also represent the “norm”. You need a certain amount of people to get that. Also if you want to do qualitative research you have to interview a certain amount of people before you can say you know something about how people experience a certain setting.

When we get enough individuals we start to perceive what the bigger group has in common.

From the beginning of 2008 we have performed experiments in a group of 10-20 people. Ten times a year we have gathered to focus on one new way of knowledge. And we have established the experienced certainty that we can gain knowledge this way, that we can get knowledge from extracting the common denominator of our collective experiences. This common core is an analogy to the mathematical ∩ of the group, the common tags in the qualitative approach based on grounded theory, or the theme or essence running in the group when we see the group as one person. It is a higher holon than each individual in the group. It is very similar to what happens in a homeopathic proving, seeing all the participants as one person.

The main source of solid knowledge today is called RCT or randomized controlled trials and has turned into the golden calf of the new millennium, but it will not last, because it has major weaknesses. Since this is not a critique of RCT, we will explore that later in a different post. Here we will only make an analogy to clarify a central point.

Let us go down a holon and imagine we were cells in the heart or the liver. We had a project, with the aim to find out if a certain influence, medication, or diet would benefit us. We had randomly chosen two groups of cells in our organ to be able to compare them and one of the groups got the active substance, the other just placebo.

Would we not then consider the heart or liver being one connected organ, that the effect on that one group also would influence the other, since what happens in one part of the organ would influence the other parts as well? And since both would get an effect, the difference between the groups would be very little or non. In such a case the conclusion would be this substance has no effect. The fact is the opposite.
To make it even easier to understand you can imagine to groups of fish living in a pool, you shower one of the groups and test if there is any difference in the wetness of the fishes in the two groups of the pool. The wetness of the pool is common to both groups, so the experiment is not a good set up. The problem is that the method is inadequate.

So let us come back to our ordinary perspective, but ad the option of us as individuals not being as separated as we normally presume. What if we can pic up on others peoples thoughts, feelings, intentions or general well being? What if we swim in the same pool? What if we have a field like Rupert Sheldrakes morphic field connecting us together as one organism? If that is the case, our blind belief in RCT being a good way of comparing two independent groups, is biased.

Then all the things that influence us in a way that also does good to the surroundings or close persons, all things that not only influence us in an isolated way, all those would be effects we would loose. These effects would come out with the least results in our test. Those factors alone that influenced only the single individual would turn out as effective or significant.

With that question at the back of our heads we decided to test the possibility of blinding. Can we blind at all?

When humans started to test medicines, they soon discovered that the attitude or knowledge of the prescribing doctor or the nurse could influence the patient. If they thought they gave something that worked it could work and opposite.

Let us just stop a minute here, and question ourselves; how much have we investigated that particular effect? How does it work? Does it work just from knowing, from intentions, from an energy field, from unconscious mimics or other factors? It was actually homeopaths that first started blinding in their remedy tests, what they call provings. They soon also realized they even needed to double blind. With simple blinding the patients did not know what they got, with double blinding the persons involved in the research did not know either. It soon became the criteria of all medical research of medicines and other therapeutic interventions. But if the two groups that we think are blinded are in the same morphic field as the persons designing and having the code, can they “see” or “know” the answer? And even if that should not be possible, can the two groups be so involved or rooted in the same fields by being under the same project that they are inseparable or influence each other?

If that is the case, could we triple blind or quadruple blind? Could we blind so much that we lost any possible transmission or any effect? These were some of the questions we had when we started our journey of exploration together as a group.

We decided never to take any substance as the first quantum leap of blinding. Can you get any effect at all if you do not ingest something? We just had the substance (a solid) in the room, covered so that nobody would see it. We made sure to select substances that were previously tested to have something to compare with. This primarily investigation suggested that our theory might be right.

Already the first year we went from a blinded substance, to a blinded intention. We even experimented with allocation of substance after the intention was performed, collected and assessed as to its effect. This way of getting knowledge of a substance, an intention, a concept or anything, not limited to being either material, energetic, conceptual or spiritual, we will share here under the category of holonistic knowledge. We have decided to call this way of gaining knowledge holonistic knowledge because it is coming from getting a higher holon and extracting the holonity of that group holon, we get this insight.

It is not one person, it is the group, or collective unity that makes the way to knowledge. It is the unity or coherence in the information from the whole group that emerges like a unit, a holon it is holonistic knowledge.

Read more of our experience with holonistic knowledge here.

Models and systems – vertical & horisonal – holonistic knowledge

Science is full of models and models change and get better and better as representations of reality.

Where did it start? Did it start with naming things? Then continue with abstracting to numbers of things?

Ever since the mind started to be a central part of our awareness it has tried to understand both what it perceives from the external (senses) as from internal sources as intuition, dreams or internal subconscious impressions.

In the early stages of development we probably as advanced animals expressed different sounds to interact. Perhaps even in the same way as monkeys do today. We have even discovered dialects between monkeys.

Going even further back we might have had a pre-expressed-language, based on a tribal belonging, or species coherence, a higher degree of holonity or harmonic interaction, where we acted as one being – the group or tribe. This stage might have preceded the stage of separating into individuals.

With the individual mind, we started to challenge and discuss different opinions. Analysis is born out of differentiating and tearing apart, rather than uniting in synthesis.

As we put things apart we put them in different categories, we make different models.

As a generalization we can talk about two major categories of models; vertical and horizontal.

The vertical models try to explain phenomenon that creates a hierarchy, stages of development or any process that is a function of time.

Horizontal models express the variations we find within any of the above stages.

The vertical would be like the grades in a school, the horizontal the stereotypes or archetypes of different student-types.

Lets look at plants and models or systems of classification
With traveling and trade, the need for understanding analogical words for minerals, foods, spices, cloths, plants and animals or products made from them became clear. With the development of science the need to specify became absolute and Linné developed the bi-nomimal system.

With this system it was possible to name any plant or animal with just two names, a little similar to what many persons do with personal names.

The latest development of classification of plants is called APG III (Angiosperm Phylogeny Group III system) with this model we can see how the whole plant kingdom has evolved through time and how different plants relate. We can even see how the whole kingdom has analogies to other kingdoms.

In this blog we will explore such relations and how we can see things from both the perspective of wholeness as well as the perspective of unity, in short a holonistic perspective.

Ill: This diagram shows the medieval understanding of spheres of the cosmos, from Aristotle as per the understanding of Ptolemy.

Why holonity?  – suggesting a new concept.

holon (Greek ὅλον, holon neuter form of ὅλος, holos “whole”) is a word coined by Arthur Koesler in his book The Ghost in the Machine (1967, p. 48) and is used as a concept for something that is a whole and a part at the same time.

And organ is a part of the human organism, but a wholeness in itself. A cell is a part of an organ but a wholeness in itself. Both are wholeness and parts at the same time, a holon.

When you try to understand the uniqueness or personality of a person you take the whole person into account and are looking for qualities or features that are prominent and strong. Or qualities that repeat themselves. He is just so …….., She really is ……, It is typical for him….. . This could be like a mountain or huge lake in the personal landscape. It could represent something strange, rare or peculiar. That would be something unique or dominant.

But it could also be a characteristic feature running through the whole landscape. Like comparing the Norwegian woods with Pina and Spruce to the Amazones or Tundra. In a person that would be a feature running through different aspects or a concepts that can embrace and include other concepts, or qualities that can be recognized in different expressions. What we would call a pattern, an essence or a read tread.

Holonity is the degree of unity in the wholeness. The degree of connection between the parts of a holon in a unified understanding, or conceptualization. The oneness in the wholeness. The unifying red tread. The qualitative feature running through a given quantity. What in a human can be called an essence, a read tread or sometimes her constitution, his personality, her individuality or type.

In the therapeutic field, the ability to connect all the parts, symptoms, manifestations of phenomena in a human and her life into a meaningful theme, or pattern can be very useful. The holonity is the degree of unity that is achieved.

This blogg is about holonity in different fields of knowledge.

In the picture above nature comes very close to a mathematical formula, a fractal that repeats the same pattern into every part of the whole, e.g a high degree of holonity.
