Week by week the dark takes a bigger hold on us here in the northern hemisphere. The sun visits some of us only from lunch to dinner. For others it hardly rises above the horizon shadowed by even the least landscape. Far up north it does not even reach above the horizon for yet many weeks to come. In these darkest of weeks we all wait for the returning of the light. In old times it could even be a question of surviving through the winter, keeping the house warm and feeding the family.
These times carry a promise of the sun soon being reborn. Again it will sprout with growing light from week to week. It is time to celebrate the birth of the sun!

As the old Egyptians envisioned the sky god Nut to swallow up the sun every night and to give birth to it the next morning, so can this yearly cycle be perceived as the solar principle being reborn for Christmas, daily in a small scale and yearly in a bigger scale.

In kabbalah and the esoteric tradition the solar principle is connected to Christ. Christ is perceived as the unique spiritual qualities Jesus was able to carry within himself as Jesus Christ. Christ was God in him and connected with the solar principle in the universe. This principle is reborn on the northern hemisphere each Christmas.

Jesus birth time has been the subject of discussions. Regardless, Christ is reborn through his connection with the aspects of God streaming towards humankind and the Earth from the Sun the same time every year.

The relation between Jesus and Christ is the same as Gautama to Buddha or Aivanhov to Omraam. These highly evolved spiritual beings each could receive within themselves an aspect of the spiritual world to manifest upon earth.

In ancient times when humans lived close to nature the change of the lunar and solar cycle influences them a lot. Your activities in the evening and night were strongly limited if the moon was new and your resources were also limited in the time of the new reborn sun at winter solstice.
Imagine you have waited a whole night for the sun to rise to give enough heat and light so you can find your way back home. The relief and joy you would get as the sun rises would be similar to that feeling of Christmas time.

I am convinced that human beings long time back almost had an instinctual perception of the turning of times, a combination of almost unconscious memory and perception of the changes in nature.
As we developed from tribes to societies, many cultures have celebrated and named the return of the light, Christmas, Jul, Saturnalia, Zagmuk and more. And the birth of the Christ principle is reflected in the birth of Gods in other cultures such as Osiris, Horus, Isis, Marduk, Mithras, Sol, Saturn,
Apollo, Serapis and Huitzilopochli, all said to be born 25th of December.

Take the opportunity during this time of the year, go within and reconnect with the spiritual inner life to give it enough life to be reborn.
